The fire department would like to ask citizens not to call the fire station number for Emergency situations. If you are not sure refer to 911, You are not bothering the dispatchers. We do not man the station 24/7 and may not find your message for several days and We have had several calls left on the answering machine for definite 911 calls,Thank you Chief Jim Owens

We have begun on our journey to a new era for the Hallowell Fire Department and the city of Hallowell.

Ground was broken today on our new fire station! Thank you to the city council, Mayor Walker, Nate Rudy and especially our generous anonymous donor. Feel free to check this site as we will provide updates frequently. -Chief Jim Owens-

October 27, 2017 Update on our new Fire Station

This week the foundation walls were finished. We spent 4 days blasting some unexpected ledge last week for the new 8" water main for the hydrant and domestic water to the building. The water line should be in by the end of business today. We are on schedule now for an early April use!

The boulder rock wall that we are building with rocks found on site under the existing Farwell building. In the near future you will see 3 specially placed boulders that show some very interesting markings that help explain our Granite City history!

The new Hallowell Fire Station Chief's office and operations/conference room, The New Hallowell Fire Station is starting to take form!

The walls are being framed up for the admin side. In this picture I am standing near the back northerly corner looking towards Winthrop Street. As always I will be happy to answer any questions or stop by and look for Rick for a quick tour! (Best to set that up through our Facebook PageThanks to all for your support.

November 30, 2017 Update

A new power pole has been installed and the temporary service is up and running. The new underground drainage system has been installed and McGee construction is tying it into the Coos Lane reconstruction project. Next week will see the roof trusses delivered and lifted into place.

A beautiful boulder wall has been built using rock found onsite.

As another week comes to an end, and we're happy to report progress on the new station construction. All the walls are framed up and sheathing is being installed.

December 06, 2017 Update

We are very excited to see roof trusses going up. The weather cleared up today just enough for us to safely use a crane to lift up trusses on the Admin end of the building. Sheathing goes up now and then the trusses on the truck bay end next week! Progress is a great thing!!

December 15, 2017 Update

We’re well on the way. Roof is almost complete, closer to being weathertight. Starting to look like the beautiful building in the drawings.
